Audience:

The course is aimed at people with experience of migration who want to advance their careers and use their unique experience as a key to professional success.

Whether you are new to the world of work, an experienced professional, looking for a new direction or unemployed, this course will provide you with valuable tools and strategies to help you achieve your goals.

Learning objectives:

Participants will

  • Analyse their own migration biography and discover the diverse skills it holds.
  • Explore how dynamic their own (multi-)cultural identity is and how it influences the way they feel, think and act, including in the professional world.
  • Learn how to make the unique key competencies that result from their life story tangible in their CV.
  • Acquire knowledge and expertise to build transcultural bridges.
  • Develop their individual ways of working effectively and successfully in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Share their experiences with like-minded people, learn from each other and expand their network of contacts.

Migrant biographies are a source of resilience, intercultural competence and innovative thinking.

This course offers you the opportunity to turn the opportunities and challenges of your migration experience into valuable strengths and competencies.

It spans an arc from the self to the other, from the foreign to the familiar.

Approach:

This course is exploratory, knowledge-based and resource-oriented:

  • Participants are given several preparation and homework assignments that focus on self-reflection.
  • The attendance days will be a varied combination of short presentations (theory, cultural models, case studies, anecdotal evidence) as well as work and exchange in small groups and in tandems.
  • Simulations, worksheets, videos, texts and other teaching and learning materials will be used.
  • Participants will be given time for self-reflection and to consolidate the skills they have acquired.
